Four eyes bright with excitement,
Dirty faces pressed against the pane.
While wishing hard with all their might,
That for Christmas, they'd get a train.
They'd been to this window often,
Had counted the toys just for fun.
If only on Christmas morning
Under their tree, there would be just one.
He and little brother Bobbie
Came oft to this window to stare
At the toys piled in this window,
But knowing for them, none were there.
This year they won't have a Christmas,
This year there won't be any toys.
No candy canes or oranges
No pleasure for two little boys.
Dad lost his job this past winter,
He's been looking so hard each day,
And when he gets home he's so tired
He doesn't have too much to say.
We all try so hard to cheer him
But in his eye I saw a tear,
When he sadly told my momma,
For the boys, 'no Christmas this year.'
She smiled her lovely smile at him,
All the while holding back her tears,
Said,'God has never failed us yet,
As we've trusted Him through the years.'
Tonight, we'll hang our stockings up
We'll trust Him as we go to bed.
And when we arise in the morning,
We'll thank Him for our daily bread.
Two little boys in bed sleeping
Two parents on their knees in prayer:
Would He, by his Devine Power
For the boys, make Christmas this year?
They knew the real reason for Christmas,
They knew Baby Jesus was born,
That He was laid in a manger
For in the Inn, there was no room.
They knew it was mommy and daddy
With God's help, who made Christmas joy,
Who always managed somehow
To put stars in the eyes of their boys.
As they boys were sleeping soundly
As mom and dad on their knees prayed,
Outside in a world so busy
God's answer to prayer was being made.
Some kind neighbors who knew this fam'ly
Knew the dad had not yet found a job,
Silently crept to their doorstep
And began their assignment from God.
They worked silently and quickly
For they did not want to be seen
Making Christmas for their neighbors
Who trusted God meet their needs.
A turkey with all the trimmings
There were toys, too many to name.
And on top of all the presents,
Was a box... a set of new trains!
